Foundation Central
The person behind the name

About Marcel

Foundation Central stands for foundational learning and experiences, with the child at the centre, from central London. The name is the company. The person is me.

Both sides of the table

I have read the reports from the school's chair. Now I read them from yours.

I'm Marcel Pirret, a SENCo working in an independent school. My day job is receiving the reports families send in, deciding what a school can actually do with them, and watching what happens next.

That seat teaches you something uncomfortable: families are spending heavily and hoping, while the one thing nobody provides is a straight answer about what matters, in what order, and what to ignore. The professionals assess. The school implements what it can. Nobody sits above the pile. Foundation Central exists to be that person, and then to work with your child on the things that count.

I write publicly about how the SEND system actually works. Honest about the system, never critical of the people in it, and never about real cases. Patterns, never people.

Credentials

The boring things, in order

  • Serving SENCo in an independent school
  • IPSEA SEND law training, Levels 1 to 3
  • Executive function coaching training, Connections in Mind
  • Enhanced DBS, held independently
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insured
  • ICO registered, with a written safeguarding policy and referral route

What I am

A navigator and a coach. I prioritise, sequence, translate and deliver, and I hold the whole picture across school, professionals and home.

What I am not

A solicitor, an educational psychologist or a therapist. When your child needs one of those, I say so, and I help you choose well rather than expensively.

How I work

Rules I do not break

  • Your documents are held securely, retained only as long as needed, and destroyed when we are done
  • I never write about real cases, disguised or otherwise
  • I tell you when something is outside my lane, and who belongs in it instead
  • Two of my twelve places are always pro bono, because pricing should never be the only door

Twenty minutes. No pitch.

Tell me about your child, and I will tell you honestly whether I can help.
